Client:
Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Project:
During the COVID-19 Pandemic all UK hospitals were put under great strain due to an increase of patient hospitalizations. We saw a great increase in patient deaths across the UK and with it the increasing demand put on NHS staff to care for patients with dignity and compassion in end of life care.
To ensure that every end of life patient was treated with kindness, compassion and dignity during the pandemic, Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust created the ‘Every Name a Person’ campaign which focused on remembering every patient as an individual with a name and a story.
As part of this project I created the visual identity of the campaign which was used on posters, animations, digital assets, tokens that were placed with those who had passed away, a peaceful garden for staff and a commemorative pin badge.
The visual identity I chose was a dandelion, to represent the fragility of life and the delicate passing of life into death.
This project received positive press recognition and was featured on ITV West numerous times. As the ‘Every Name a Person’ campaign gained traction, BBC’s Danny Clark ‘The Black Gardner’ joined the project to design two bespoke garden sanctuaries based at Cheltenham and Gloucestershire Hospitals based on around the symbol of the dandelion.
