Guide to Muslim Patient Care

Client:
Spiritual Care Team, Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Project:
The Guidance on Muslim Patient Care booklet was written by Atique Miah, Muslim Chaplain at Gloucestershire Hospitals, with the aim to promote the correct care for Muslim patients. Muslim patients often have different needs to non-Muslim patients and care staff can often be unaware of the small changes they could make that can make a big difference to patient experience. Examples of these include fasting during Ramadan and providing water to allow for the correct washing before prayer.

For this project, I was tasked with creating an informative and respectful guidance document to promote the correct care procedures for Muslim patients. To do this I created the document using a luxurious gold and navy colour palette, Arabic geometric patterns, illustrations which depict symbols of the Muslim faith (such as Mosques, the moon and star and lanterns) pull out quotes and a graphic grid layout design to help staff access key information and teachings easily.
